GMC Wrapper Design

September 24th, 2001 § comments 0

Saputo Design needed a professional grade design built from various photo and illustration elements used in the 2002 GMC truck brochures. I was left to my own devices. Click on the images to see the results. One image shows the entire wrapper, and the other a detail of the left side.

UFD Logan Package

My band UFD submitted our song Logan for the XMen movie. I made a really cool box, with comic book imagery, and did the song lyrics for the tri-fold CD insert. Also included was a version of the movie trailer with the music replace with Logan. The song was applauded for it’s lyrical content and energy, though not accepted, because the movie was only using original score without vocals.

South Park – Chef Aid

November 3rd, 1998 § comments 0

I had the unbelievable pleasure of working on the first South Park album, Chef Aid. Produced by Rick Rubin, I played drums in the DVDA band along with Matt Stone on bass, Trey Parker on Keyboards and vocals, Bruce Howell on guitar, and Isaac Hayes as “Chef”. The most memorable part of the session (for me) was when Rick Rubin told me to play more cymbal crashes in the middle of the crazy drum fills on Come Sail Away. Brilliant!

Here are a couple samples.

I miss my lung, Bob

August 4th, 1998 § comments 0

Digging through some old files and found this anti-smoking billboard I worked on in 1998 at Asher & Partners. We covered the entire state of California with these boards, and they won just about every advertising award on the planet. The various “Bob” billboards were reproduced in nearly every language on the planet. Just try doing a google search of “I miss my lung, Bob” to see what I mean.

“Bob, I’ve got emphysema” is used in the book Making the News: A Guide for Activists and Nonprofits to define a newly coined term “KILLBOARD – A billboard that parodies an existing advertisement in order to mock or subvert the ad’s message.”

Here’s a whole bunch of social service ads that I worked on from that time period. Do you remember the impact of these billboards?
