About

NELSDRUMS – UNITED STATES

There’s cutting-edge, and then there’s bleeding-edge. In everything I do, I try to stay on the latter.

I’m Nels Dielman: freelance art director, digital interface designer, graphic designer, and retoucher. Lately, I’ve been creating fresh, distinctive automotive advertising for the internet, but I’m comfortable working in all mediums and for any kind of product or service.

It all started with working on my high school newspaper and yearbook, where I learned to love the challenge of a blank canvas. I continued my forays into graphic design while attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, where I made untold numbers of concert posters for my friends’ bands as well as my own (without pay, I might add), and plastered the entire town with them in the wee hours of the night. In fact, if you lived in Boston during the late eighties, you may even recall the humorous (and slightly offensive) Funkin’ A posters with “borrowed” imagery from Heavy Metal magazine.

The next big step came with the purchase of my first Macintosh, which opened up a new world of creativity to me, and others soon noticed. Next thing I knew, I was designing zed cards for industry names like Milla Jovavich, Jessica Alba, and many others. This led to small design jobs, then bigger projects, and in no time, I was handling full-scale projects in a number of different disciplines for Fortune 500 companies.

My creative expression doesn’t end there, however. I’m also a professional drummer and a proud husband and father. It’s safe to say that I’m a very lucky guy.

I look forward to bringing my unique approach to your project, and I invite you to look through my work on the site. I think you’ll soon see that if you need art direction, digital interface design, graphic design, retouching, or even a drummer to fill in for a set or two, I’m your guy.
